August housekeeping items

Time keeps getting away from me, and here it is August!

On August 16th, the second book of the Imperial Mars series comes out: The Sea of Clouds.

After the events of the previous book, Lucy and Moira find themselves headed in different directions. Lucy is sent to the cloud cities of Venus and finds herself ensnared in a diplomatic incident and investigating a murder. Moira visits her family on Mars, where a populist revolution is heating up and violence becomes a regular occurrence in the capital city. Will the common people finally make their voices heard, or will it all end in blood?

If you liked Black Sails to Sunward, good news, this is more of the same. And I mean literally more, it’s a good 20% longer. It adds Moira’s point of view, so we’re able to keep track of events on Mars, on Venus, and of course in space.

Here is where you can preorder it, or wait till it becomes available on August 16th and order it on your platform of choice!

Second bit of news is, I finally launched an email newsletter. I was hoping subscribing to this blog would take the place of that, but it just isn’t as easy to subscribe to WordPress as it is to sign up to a purely email-based list. So I set up an email newsletter which I plan to send out every month or two with highlights from this blog and whatever news is going on. If you already subscribe through WordPress, you won’t miss anything either way, but you may want to sign up for the email list to get a free story. “Aurora Mortis” is a little piece I wrote a while back about growing up on a colony world, and you get it free when you sign up.

Here’s where you can subscribe.

Finally, speaking of free short stories, many of you have already read “Christmas on Mars,” the Christmas story I wrote in the Imperial Mars universe. But if you haven’t, you can download the epub here. I figured it would make a nice preview for The Sea of Clouds, since it goes a little more into Moira’s perspective on their relationship.
