One of the things I’ve been most excited about with my debut release is the cover. I am really bad (like REALLY bad) at visual art. I appreciate it, but I can’t draw for beans and I’m not good at design either. But I had a very clear image of what I wanted in my mind, something with a planet and a solar sailing ship. But a real looking solar sailing ship, not a sailing ship in space and not, much as I love it, the ship from Treasure Island.

My worst nightmare was getting a book deal, but the publisher insisted on having a swooning lady on the cover, her cravat untied and her bosom trying to escape from her waistcoat. No thank you. Lucy keeps her cravat on, thank you very much.

Anyway, my publisher is not like that at all. They were happy to go with exactly what I suggested, and not only that, but went back and forth many times as I nitpicked every detail of this cover.
